Damian J. Mark

Damian is a seasoned business lawyer with over 25 years of experience. As a Partner of the Firm, his practice focuses on public and corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions, and general corporate and nonprofit law. He advises clients on a wide range of business, finance, governance and transactional matters. He has served as bond counsel, borrower’s counsel and underwriters’ counsel in tax-exempt and taxable public finance transactions nationwide, including public offerings and private placements. His experience includes general obligation and private activity bond issues for diverse issuers and borrowers, including health systems, senior living organizations, private schools, charter schools, universities, airports, sanitary districts, parking facility operators, state agencies, and local governments.

Damian serves as outside general counsel and trusted advisor to small businesses and nonprofit organizations, including several foundations, guiding them on various legal issues, including entity formations, financing matters, applications for exempt status, contract review, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, affiliations and other general business matters.

Over the years, Damian has served on local nonprofit boards and provided pro bono counsel to a diverse group of nonprofits. Damian is a member of the Maryland Bar and the National Association of Bond Lawyers. Before joining McKennon Shelton & Henn LLP in 2014, Damian practiced law for 15 years at Whiteford, LLP.
